well, first official blog post goes to ravid. (cheering crowd)
last night i slept on brooke's couch. it was a darkish green, post modern 3 seater. It had handsome armrests with semi-deflated pillows. brooke has a cat, and it is evident that her cat had used a side of the couch as a scratch post. the night before i slept in the matching super spring-loaded lazy boy, which was only satisfactory. every time i turned over in that lazy boy, it would bring me back to an upright sitting position against my will.
the couch was a marked improvement. the texture of its fabric was coarse, but smoothed by years of love. the sags developed in the seat cushions of the couch complimented the curves of my back for a ergometrically sound sleep. i being a humble 5' 6" in height, fit on the couch like a glass slipper. i think my height will give an advantage in enjoying any couch more than the others, whether it be a love seat or a chaise lounge.
this couch has an epic history. brooke's father, mr. olaussen, purchased the couch in 1985 when he was starting business school at the university of chicago. He bought it on the south side of chicago at a discounted price from a mob family who had to pay off legal fees due to a stool pigeon. the afghan draped over the couch was knitted by mr. olaussen's mother. when brookes cat, lightning, was first brought home, he was a very shy cat. brooke remembers their first bonding experiences on this very couch. i am allergic to cats, so this explains why i was so stuffy in the morning.

Sweet blog. I think you should do a post about every place/thing you sleep on or at during the trip.
